Amherst: Golf Capital of New Hampshire
Sunday, 01 May 2011 00:00
New Hampshire has never been much of a golf destination, given the five months of snow cover, but the sport has its own capital within the Granite State: Amherst.
The town's four courses – Amherst Country Club, Buckmeadow Golf Club, Ponemah Green Family Golf Center and Souhegan Woods Golf Club – may not be the state's biggest or most popular, but no other town in the state has as many courses or as many golf holes as the 54 in Amherst, with its pair of 18- and nine-hole courses each.
